From the French word “decouper”, meaning cut up or cut out, the technique is said to have first been practiced in China in the 12th century.  Simply, it involves cutting pieces of paper, applying them in a decorative manner to a surface then sealing the final assembled piece with a clear coat.

This open session will introduce the student to basic techniques of decoupage, taught by available staff.  Students will then have the opportunity to decoupage their own shadow box frame and use available materials at RAW.
